Stolen (Lucy Kincaid) [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "Stolen" the 6th book in her Lucy Kincaid series by Allison Brennan.

Nothing is more important to private investigator Sean Rogan than his relationship with FBI trainee Lucy Kincaid. But when his past catches up with him, Sean faces an ultimatum: clear his name and help the FBI take down a rogue agent, or go to prison and lose everything he holds dear. With only Agent Noah Armstrong as his back-up and forced to keep Lucy in the dark, Sean steps back into his old world. But the longer he’s undercover, the more dangerous the game becomes. More than Sean’s future with Lucy is at stake — so is his life.

Lucy can’t imagine Sean would keep secrets from her — until an FBI agent casts doubt about who he really is…and who he used to be. Why did Sean quit his job with his brother and move to New York? Why hasn’t he told her anything about his new job? With more questions than answers, Lucy doesn’t know who to believe or who she can trust. All she knows is that Sean is in grave danger, and this time, it’s personal.

I've finished "Exposed" the book in her Tracer series by Laura Griffin.

And although her camera was stolen, Maddie knows she has something that could be even more valuable to investigators.

FBI agent Brian Beckman has spent months investigating a vicious criminal known as the Doctor, only to have a key witness abducted on his watch. Her Last Breath: A Novel

I've finished "Her Last Breath" the 5th book in her Kate Burkholder series by Linda Castillo.

Product Description

An extraordinarily beautiful Amish woman, a dangerous femme fatale, is the central figure in a story that reveals a dark side of Painters Mill and its seemingly perfect Amish world.

A rainy night, an Amish father returning home with his three children, a speeding car hurtling toward them out of nowhere.

What at first seems like a tragic, but routine car accident suddenly takes on a more sinister cast as evidence emerges that nothing about the crash is accidental. But who would want to kill an Amish deacon and two of his children? He leaves behind a grieving widow and a young boy who clings to life in the intensive care wing of a hospital, unable to communicate. He may be the only one who knows what happened that night. Desperate to find out who killed her best friend’s husband and why, Kate begins to suspect she is not looking for a reckless drunk, but instead is on the trail of a cold blooded killer amid the residents of Painter’s Mill. It is a search that takes her on a chilling journey into the darkest reaches of the human heart and makes her question everything she has ever believed about the Amish culture into which she was born.

My Review:

The beginning opens with a father coming home with his three children when a car sideswipes them.  Kate takes the call and when she arrives she is horrified at what she sees.  When she realizes it's Paul and his children who is married to her best friend in childhood she is devastated.  There is only one survivor the oldest child David 9 years old but he is in bad shape and is taken to the hospital.

If that wasn't even enough she has to deal with her love life.  John Tomassetti her criminal investigator lover wants to move to the next step in their relationship - he wants her to move in with him.  She is wary and trying to deal with the situation without hurting John.

If that wasn't enough the remains of Daniel Lapp the rapist who attacked her when she was 14 years old is found in an abandoned mine.

This book was well written, fast paced and twisted plot with sick psycho villains who have no remorse whatsoever.

Cozy, Mystery Thrillers and Romantic Suspense Books, I'm Waiting For:

Unseen: A Novel (Will Trent) [Hardcover]

Karin Slaughter’s New York Times bestselling novels featuring detective Will Trent are utterly riveting and masterfully drawn. Her latest thriller, Unseen, pits detectives, lovers, and enemies against one another in an unforgettable standoff between righteous courage and deepest evil.

Will Trent is a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent whose latest case has him posing as Bill Black, a scary ex-con who rides a motorcycle around Macon, Georgia, and trails an air of violence wherever he goes. The cover has worked and he has caught the eye of a wiry little drug dealer who thinks he might be a useful ally. But undercover and cut off from the support of the woman he loves, Sara Linton, Will finds his demons catching up with him.

Although she has no idea where Will has gone, or why, Sara herself has come to Macon because of a cop shooting: Her stepson, Jared, has been gunned down in his own home. Sara holds Lena, Jared’s wife, responsible: Lena, a detective, has been a magnet for trouble all her life, and Jared’s shooting is not the first time someone Sara loved got caught in the crossfire. Furious, Sara finds herself involved in the same case that Will is working without even knowing it, and soon danger is swirling around both of them.

In a novel of fierce intensity, shifting allegiances, and shocking twists, two investigations collide with a conspiracy straddling both sides of the law. Karin Slaughter’s latest is both an electrifying thriller and a piercing study of human nature: what happens when good people face the unseen evils in their lives.

Ready to Die (Selena Alvarez / Regan Pescoli) [Hardcover]

I've finished "Ready to Die" the 5th book in her Selena Alvarez and Regan Pescoli series by Lisa Jackson.

Product Description

One by one, he’ll stalk them, then he’ll squeeze the trigger, savoring the way each lifeless body crumples to the reddening snow. One down already. And then there were five.  When Detective Regan Pescoli drives to Sheriff Dan Grayson’s house to present her resignation, she’s prepared for an argument. She’s not expecting to find Grayson shot and bleeding out on the frozen ground. The assassination attempt leaves Grayson barely clinging to life and the entire police department of Grizzly Falls, Montana, in shock. Every lawman has enemies, but something about this shooting suggests more than a simple grudge. Now Pescoli feels compelled to stay on the force until the case is solved. She and Detective Selena Alvarez — who is torn between a new relationship and her loyalty to Grayson — work to whittle down the list of suspects. But the deeper they go, the more personal and dangerous the case becomes. Then a prominent judge’s body is found and the killer sends a sinister warning to the press: “Who’s Next?” Headstrong and eager for justice, Pescoli has no intention of waiting around to find out. She’ll track the scant clues on her own if she has to, but she has no idea where her search will lead.  Two down, four to go and now Regan and Pescoli are at the top of a killer’s list. And when hunter meets prey, both must be willing to kill — and ready to die.

My Review:

It's Christmas season in Grizzly Falls and Detective Regan Pescoli has just been proposed to by her sexy and handsome cowboy boyfriend Nate Santana.  He has also gave her a stipulation that he will give her a week to let him know her answer.  He wants to make her his wife and not just a lover.  Regan knows she loves Nate but after two divorces and two kids later she is hesitant to make another failed commitment.

As she arrives at her bosses Dan Grayson to settle some choices she witnesses his assassination attempt right in front of her.  Now he is in the hospital and then a high profile judge's body is found and both Selena and Regan wonder if the two cases are connected.

During the investigation they find a hit list with 6 names that a killer is determined to kill one by one.  Also it leads to someone they both know.

This book had a well written storyline with characters you care about and some you may not, tons of actions that keeps you on your toes.

Interesting drama regarding family members of the Grayson clan and I'm curious what people's reaction is going to be when they find out the truth in the newest development.

The 9th Girl [Hardcover]

Product Description

#1 New York Times bestselling author Tami Hoag brings back her fan-favorite Minneapolis investigators Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska in the haunting new thriller The 9th Girl.

"Kovac had seen more dead bodies than he could count: Men, women, children; victims of shootings, stabbings, strangulations, beatings; fresh corpses and bodies that had been left for days in the trunks of cars in the dead of summer. But he had never seen anything quite like this.

On a frigid New Year's Eve in Minneapolis a young woman's brutalized body falls from the trunk of a car into the path of oncoming traffic. Questions as to whether she was alive or dead when she hit the icy pavement result in her macabre nickname, Zombie Doe. Unidentified and unidentifiable, she is the ninth nameless female victim of the year, and homicide detectives Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska are charged with the task of not only finding out who Zombie Doe is, but who in her life hated her enough to destroy her. Was it personal, or could it just have been a crime of opportunity? Their greatest fear is that not only is she their ninth Jane Doe of the year, but that she may be the ninth victim of a vicious transient serial killer they have come to call Doc Holiday.

Crisscrossing America's heartland, Doc Holiday chooses his victims at random, snatching them in one city and leaving them in another, always on a holiday. If Zombie Doe is one of his, he has brought his gruesome game to a new and more terrifying level. But as Kovac and Liska begin to uncover the truth, they will find that the monsters in their ninth girl's life may have lived closer to home. And even as another young woman disappears, they have to ask the question: which is the greater evil -- the devil you know or the devil you don't?

Exposed (Tracers) [Mass Market Paperback]

Product Description

Every picture tells a story. But not all of them have happy endings.

As a forensic photographer at the Delphi Center crime lab, Maddie Callahan is used to seeing violence up close, but she’s never before been the target of it. When a freelance photo shoot goes awry, she realizes she may have seen, and perhaps photographed, the kidnapping of a key witness in a federal probe. And although her camera was stolen, Maddie knows she has something that could be even more valuable to investigators.

FBI agent Brian Beckman has spent months investigating a vicious criminal known as the Doctor, only to have a key witness abducted on his watch. Worse, he’s falling for the woman who may be the Doctor’s next target. Maddie’s aloof facade hides a world of hurt that he wants to heal, no matter how much she keeps him at bay. But first he has to protect her from the danger that’s just out of focus, drawing close enough to shoot  and kill.

You Cannoli Die Once [Mass Market Paperback]

And when the head chef is your own granddaughter, things can get a little heated.

Fortunately, Eve Angelotta knows how to handle what her nonna dishes out. But when Maria Pia’s boyfriend is found dead in Miracolo’s kitchen, bludgeoned by a marble mortar, the question arises: Can a woman this fiery and stubborn over cream-filled pastry be capable of murder?

The police seem to think so, and they put the elder Angelotta behind bars, while Eve, sexy neighborhood attorney Joe Beck, and the entire Miracolo family — parenti di sangue and otherwise — try every trick in the cookbook to unravel a tangle of lies and expose a killer.

Product Description

An extraordinarily beautiful Amish woman, a dangerous femme fatale, is the central figure in a story that reveals a dark side of Painters Mill and its seemingly perfect Amish world

A rainy night, an Amish father returning home with his three children, a speeding car hurtling toward them out of nowhere.

What at first seems like a tragic, but routine car accident suddenly takes on a more sinister cast as evidence emerges that nothing about the crash is accidental.

Mayhem at the Orient Express (League of Literary Ladies) [Mass Market Paperback]

Product Description

At a local Chinese restaurant, it's the owner who gets taken out.

Most folks aren’t forced by court order to attend a library-book discussion group, but that’s just what happens to B and B proprietor and ex-Manhattanite Bea Cartwright, hippy cat lover Chandra Morrisey, and winery owner Kate Wilder after a small-town magistrate has had enough of their squabbling. South Bass, an island on Lake Erie, is home to an idyllic summer resort, but these three ladies keep disturbing the peace.

The initial book choice is Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express, and that sets their mouths to watering. The Orient Express is the island’s newest Chinese restaurant. They might not agree about much, but the ladies all love the orange chicken on the menu. But their meal is spoiled when the restaurant’s owner, Peter Chan, has the bad fortune of getting murdered. Now, with Christie as their inspiration, the League of Literary Ladies has a real mystery to solve if they can somehow catch a killer without killing each other first.
