He lurks in the shadows, waiting and watching . . . And once he has you, all you can do is. . .

BEG FOR MERCY

Megan Flynn thought she was falling in love. Cole Williams wasn't just handsome and passionate, he was one of the good guys. Or so she thought, until he arrested her brother - the only family she has left - for a murder she knows he couldn't have possibly committed. Now, with her heart broken and her brother's life hanging in the balance, Megan will risk everything to prove his innocence. Even if that means throwing herself into the path of a sadistic killer with a hauntingly familiar MO.

Seattle Detective Cole Williams had given up on making Megan see reason where her brother is concerned. But when she insinuates herself into the most shockingly brutal case Cole has ever worked, he can't stand idly by. Plunged into a secret world where the city's elite indulge their darkest desires, Cole will do whatever it takes to bring down a madman who has made Megan his most coveted prey.

My Review:

Storyline:  Megan Flynn's brother Sean has been convicted of a brutal murder and she knows he didn't do it but she can't prove it.  She has never stopped looking for answers on finding out who the real killer is and why they framed Sean.  Cole has given up but Megan continues her search and Cole the man she thought she loved enters her life again.  They were hot and heavy in the past but they broke up because Cole was the arresting officer.  Then more bodies turn up with the same MO as in Sean's case which causes alarms in every one's minds and especially Cole's.  He still doesn't believe Sean is innocent but he is determined to help Megan find out the real truth.  Cole let's his feelings for Megan compromise his cop by book duty and they only have each other for support.

Characters: Megan is in her late 20's, a writer and court advocate who stubbornly is determined to prove her brother is innocent and was framed. I'm glad she supports her brother and knows he isn't capable of doing those very sick and depraved killings.
Cole is a cop by the book and is very couragious and honorable.

Romance:  I really enjoyed the romance between Cole and Megan because they didn't jump right back into a relationship until he started to believe Sean was innocent and didn't take advantage of her vulnerability and he finally admitted this could be a second chance at love though very short.  It was hot and steamy and you really root for them to finally get together.

Killer: The killer is very sick in the head and very depraved in his killings. He even records his rapes and killings and it gets him off. Eww that's sick! I wonder how they can function in the real world like a normal person? They believe Megan is their salvation.

4/5
