About the Author
M. L. Buchman has worked in fast food, theater, computers, publishing, and light manufacturing. It's amazing what you can do with a degree in geophysics. At one point he sold everything and spent 18-months riding a bicycle around the world. In 11,000 miles, he touched 15 countries and hundreds of amazing people. Since then, he has acquired a loving lady, the coolest kid on the planet, and lives in Portland, Oregon.

My Review:
Sergeant Connie Davis is mechanic for a special military helicopter force "The Nightstalkers". She lost both her parents when she was very young and doesn't have any other family. Her life has been surrounded by being on aircrafts and then being in the military. She has always been a loner and feels left out even in a group.
Staff Sergeant John Wallace is the Chief Mechanic for military helicopter force "The Nightstalkers". He can't read the silent and lonely Connie Davis. He knows she is extremely intelligent and knows she's a pro in mechanics. As he spends more time with Connie he wants to learn more about her on a personal basis.
Then their team is chosen for a top secret mission and Connie must rely on her teammates to survive or else they won't survive.
It was heart felt with Connie learning to face her demons (the death of her father), learning to love and trusting her team. I really liked how John was very patient and kind helping Connie face her demons. Glad she opened up to John and told him about her tragedies.

My Review:
The heroine Emily Beale is a captain of SOAR (Special Operations Aviation Regiment of the Army) who loves her job and earned her place in a man's world. She's a take-charge, tough, smart kick-ass women who loves to fly into high stress combat zones. Then she is pulled off the job to act as the First Lady's personal chief and bodyguard which makes her very unhappy.
The hero Mark Henderson is Major of SOAR and he's known as a hard ass. No one can please him and when you do well you need to up the ante the next time. He never shows anyone his human side especially his attraction to Emily. He's ticked off when she is pulled from his team because he's attracted to her and she's his best pilot. When she is injured he's right by her side but he's gone by morning. Then when he hears what her mission is he insinuates himself into the scene by playing her ex-boyfriend.
The action scenes were well written, heart pulsing and surreal. I really enjoyed the technical aspects of the story with how well the description of the helicopters were detailed and Emily's passion for them.
The romance between Mark and Emily is against Army policy (no fraternizing between subordinates) but it was tender, caring, hot and sweet. You can tell Mark really cares for Emily and wants to protect her from harm.
